Smartmatic offers governments around the world a portfolio of solutions to modernise elections and promote citizen participation. From strategy and product development to interface design, I worked with Smartmatic to create an efficient and auditable voting machine.
On my trip to Panama, I visited the headquarters of Smartmatic to facilitate design thinking workshops with their employees. The purpose of these workshops was to generate innovative solutions for the upcoming elections. To achieve this, we adopted the five-day design sprint method, which enabled us to rapidly generate ideas, prototype, and test assumptions. This project was undertaken by me as a design consultant from Designit.
Together, we designed a more inclusive and adaptable system to facilitate voting and increase voter participation, while maintaining a rigorous level of security. We created a new voting machine along with a roadmap for future product expansions, and equipped the management systems with interfaces that can be adapted to local voting laws and regulations. Our collaboration will enable governments to efficiently manage elections while also maintaining transparency throughout the process.
